morning long. red flag warnings, mike is keeping track of that. >>> and leyla joins us with a check on the traffic. >> reporter: all right. we don't have any crashes to speak of, so that's the good news. hopefully, we won't have any car fires because of the dry conditions. what we do have, though, good morning, everyone, construction in the east bay, traveling along in the eastbound direction on 580 between north slim road and greenville. you will be seeing crews out there working on drainage, and that is causing a little bit of a bottleneck, as you can see slowing building in the eastbound direction. westbound direction nice and clear. we are at top speeds as you make it out of tracey and into dublin, and as you continue into castro valley. so not a problem there. going outside live to look at this, the bay bridge toll plaza, where i saw a few cars loading up in the cash-paying lane, as you can see on the right-hand side of the screen. the rest of the drive is moving along fine. we'll have a few lanes blocked westbound until 5:00 at the cantilever section till the end of the tunnel

by a neighbor for their neighbors. neighbors tell us they don't think this is a home invasion. they are not feeling nervous for their safety at this time. they suspect this was a mercy killing of a disabled woman and then the suicide of a terminally ill elderly man. police got the call at 4:30 this morning to come to the home where they found two people inside, who had been shot and killed. word is starting to spread throughout the neighborhood. one woman we talked to, i irene said the man who lived her was in his 80s and a friendly neighbor. >> we have lived here 25 years and his house is a bunch of those back to his house. so we have a corner of the property with them. always been over the fence kind of thing. for all these years. yeah, he was a great guy. reporter: police tell us they found an adult man, they say he was the father, and an adult female, who was the daughter, and they both died. no further information is being released at this time another of the police department. the next door neighbor told us she feels like these two people, who had been struggling, are no

across parts of the bay area because of dangerous fire conditions. ktvu's alex savidge will tell us about how crews are preparing in a moment but first, we begin our team coverage with steve paulson who explains the weather conditions outside. >>> well, it's a tale of three different forecasts. if you are near the coast, fog or sun. if you are south bay or parts of the peninsula, it's mostly sunny. although there's one little band of clouds going through the south bay. north bay and parts of the east bay. a lot of clouds, mostly cloudy. it's cool, warm, hot, muggy. a little low off central california is producing a lot of cloud cover and it will be with us through thursday morning. i think a bert opportunity for showers is tuesday. the red flag warning is out for lightning, for causing fires. it's very dry and hot. already 93 in livermore. yesterday they were 102. san francisco is 61. half moon bay, also 61. a huge difference. watch the clouds streaming in. you can see they are definitely taking aim more towards the east and north bay. some of that looks like it wants to produce rain. not

." >>> good morning to you. thanks for joining us, i'm laura garcia-cannon. >> i'm jon kelley. good morning everybody. thank you for joining us. breaking news right now in fresno where three people were killed, two others hospitalized after the vehicle they were riding in was struck by a train. this all happened around 2:00 this morning at the intersection of jefferson avenue and golden state boulevard. investigators say a total of five people were in that vehicle when it was hit. three of them died at the scene. two others were take tone the  unknown at this hour. right now the cause of this crash remains under investigation. >>> 6:01. new this morning, the blade runner, oscar pistorius, will go on trial in march in the shooting death of his girlfriend reeva steenkamp. he was formally indicted on charges of murder. he was seen crying and holding hands with siblings. he claims he shot steenkamp by mistake because he thought she was an intruder in his home. prosecutors say he killed her after an argument. today would have been her 30th birthday. steenkamp's family says they will spend today

in line than us. things are -- from las vegas all the way from tahoe to truckee to reno. lake county, mendocino, maybe napa in line. slightly cooler today. yesterday, it was hot. today will be warm to hot to muggy. partly sunny, partly cloudy, possible possible -- possible showers. foggy on parts of the coast. back to school forecast, we're focusing this time on san francisco. there's pretty good gusts. three reports about 20 miles an hour. most locations are calm. that's not the case in parts of san francisco. 56, 64 we'll go for a high of 68 depending upon where you are in the city. 70 in antioch. upper 60s, 56 in san francisco. there's lot of 60s to 70s. the cloud cover streaming right off the sierra, coming back from the sacramento valley to the north bay and some lightning strikes have developed into fresno. that might develop later on. we have fog going west to east. but the high and mid-level clouds going east to west. fog, sun, clouds, very warm, muggy, humid. clouds building, possible showers and thundershowers. more likely the north bay. it's kind of a broad brush forecast

in the bay. >>> good monday morning to you. thanks for joining us. i'm laura garcia-cannon. >> i'm jon kelley. san francisco police at this hour clearing the scene of an overnight standoff that ended in the city's mission district that started at about 2:00 this morning at the intersection of 23rd and hampshire street. that's not too far from general hospital. that's when police say they received reports of a number of people opening fire on a car and running into a house nearby. police tactical special force units were brought in to search the home. none of the suspects was found inside, but two were arrested later at that scene. so far there are no reports of any injuries. >> we'll learn more today about what caused a deadly limousine fire on the san mateo bridge earlier this year. authorities have finished their investigation into the may 4th fire which killed five women. today that investigation will be released to the public. san mateo county coroner and district attorney as well as representatives from the chp, foster city fire department and the public utilities commission will be on h

smith joins us live from the scene with the latest. >> reporter: good morning to you. a couple minutes ago san francisco police made entry into an upstairs unit here at a home in san francisco. they were looking for one or two suspects. they tell me they may have opened fire on people sitting in a car. they made entry into that home and tell me there were no suspects inside, only one occupant. i want to step aside so you can see what's going on. san francisco police now leaving the scene. they're telling me that someone opened fire earlier this evening on a car. several people inside, but no one hurt. the sergeant tells me that they were able to take two people into custody, but they got information that a couple more may have ran inside of a home here. they brought out sfpd tactical and special teams to search that home. again, no suspects. only an occupant inside. i'm told at least two people were detained. the neighborhood had been quiet with a few people evacuated. just a couple minutes ago we saw them walking around again. again, this situation is winding down. reporting live in s
